Karen joined The Long-Term Care Foundation in the spring of 2025, after serving eight years as the Director of Education & Support for the Adult Family Home Council. Karen has over 20 years of experience in workforce development, education, and advocacy; as well as a proven ability to lead and advance the mission of non-profit organizations.

I believe that every caregiver and provider has the potential to make a lasting difference in the lives they touch. I am passionate about helping them feel truly valued and supported in the work they do every day. I have over 20 years’ experience in long-term care; from being a direct caregiver to a Case Manager to supporting providers through advocacy and education with the Adult Family Home Council. In my current role with the Long-Term Care Foundation, my purpose is to be a catalyst for growth and connection, providing resources and guidance to build a thriving and compassionate long-term care community.

Shereice Brown

Director of Workforce Development

Shereice Brown joined The Long-Term Care Foundation in September 2020. Shereice has years of combined experience in Human Resources, recruiting, corporate and employment law. In addition, she has worked as a CNA and has worked across a broad spectrum of long-term care settings, from adult family homes, nursing homes to hospice care. She is devoted to using her skills and knowledge to continue to serve the adult family home community.

I believe that the work we do helps create a stronger, more knowledgeable, and more compassionate long-term care workforce. As a former caregiver, the passion I have always had for caring for others has turned into purpose as I am able to support those who dedicate themselves to caregiving. Using my firsthand knowledge of the challenges, sacrifices, and rewards of being a caregiver, I can now empower others by providing the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed in this field. Through our programs, we aren’t just supporting individuals, but investing in them, while helping the vulnerable populations receive the quality care they deserve.

Zenaida Almodovar

Workforce Development & Digital Systems Manager

Zenaida has been with The Long-Term Care Foundation since November 2021, soon after she retired from being an AFH Provider/Caregiver since 2013. Having the background of the responsibilities of owning an AFH herself she is passionate about being able to help the Adult Family Home community. Zenaida is Bilingual Spanish/English.

I believe in supporting providers through behind-the-scenes systems, resources, and guidance so they can focus more on providing quality care to their residents. As a former AFH owner, caring for the vulnerable adult population has always been my passion, and now I get to do the next best thing in helping to take care of those who care for them. My goal is to provide owners with the resources I wish I had when I ran my home, while empowering caregivers to not only provide the best care possible, but show them that it is possible to grow in this field and possibly open their own home one day. This is what makes my heart happy - when I see people with caring hearts succeed.

Tiffany Kalegi

Workforce Development Specialist

Tiffany joined the Long-Term Care Foundation team in April 2023. Growing up with a parent who owns an adult family home, she knows firsthand what providers experience daily. With her experience in behavior therapy and adult family home operations, she is dedicated to serving others. Tiffany graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and has a passion for helping others succeed.

I believe in uplifting individuals in our community by providing opportunities for education, career advancement, and resources for one of our most vulnerable populations. My mother has been a provider for over 20 years, allowing me the opportunity to see how special and selfless the adult family home community is. As Workforce Development Specialist, I am passionate about building relationships with providers, caregivers, and training instructors to provide a qualified work force and strong foundation for adult family homes. I look forward to continuing to support and advocate for the wonderful individuals in the adult family home community.

Claudia joined the Long-Term Care Foundation in November 2025, after eight years of running an adult family home for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Claudia also previously served as a board member for the Adult Family Home Council. She has a master’s degree in social work and over 20 years of experience with nonprofits. Claudia is originally from the East Coast and has lived in Washington since 2018. She is excited to use what she has learned to help other adult family home flourish.

I believe that every AFH caregiver deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive in their absolutely vital role. I am dedicated to elevating this critical profession. As a former AFH operator, my purpose is to leverage my knowledge of policies and systems to ensure adult family homes receive the essential training and support needed to continue to provide truly exceptional care.

Jessica Claybrook

Provider Development  & Outreach Specialist

phone.png

Jessica's caregiving profession started by way of advocating for her mother’s needs in 2009. The greatest honor of her life has been becoming an adult family home provider; allowing her the opportunity to bring a premier care option to members of her hometown community in Monroe and provide a quality work setting for fellow caregivers.

Jessica believes the old adage is true “how we care for ourselves transcends to how we care for others” – she's looking forward to collaborating with her industry peers on how we can best express that care to our MVP’s!

Education:  Bachelor of Science from Central Washington University, Certificate in Gerontology through University of Washington and AFH Administrative License

I believe that AFH models do not receive the awareness they deserve. As an AFH owner, I am fueled by encouragement and collaboration and I connect deeply with fellow providers who chose this avenue of business based on their family values, servant leadership, and heart-centric focus. I have passion for helping fellow providers recognize their value and build awareness in establishing strong practices for their personal and professional success.

Doris Elkins

Director of Finance & Operations

phone.png

Doris joined the LTCF in July 2022 and takes care of all our bookkeeping needs. She also shares her time as the Operations & Membership Coordinator with the Adult Family Home Council which she started in December 2021. Doris brings her many years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping and administrative management to both teams and is eager to learn and grow with our organizations. She is new to the Thurston county area, but not to Washington as she has spent most of her life in the King County area and is loving life here in Tumwater.

I believe caregivers – regardless of background or financial means – should have access to the knowledge and tools they need to succeed at no charge to the provider or caregiver. As Director of Finance & Operations, I am passionate about our AFH Training Network, which sponsors free education, allowing us to invest in the professional growth, confidence, and well-being of those who provide essential care to our most vulnerable populations. Our commitment to providing this support not only enhances quality of care delivered across the state, but also strengthens the caregiving workforce by removing barriers to training, promoting equity, and fostering long-term career development.

Jessica Griffin

Communications & Marketing Manager

Jessica has been with the LTCF since its start in early 2020. Before that, she was working with the Adult Family Home Council in a similar communications role. Born and raised in Olympia, WA and an honors graduate of Central Washington University in Public Relations, she is passionate about using her knowledge of effective communication strategies to further the efforts of the LTCF to support and serve all of those working in the adult family home community.

I believe that the best way we can support the adult family home community is by spreading the word about our organization and the resources and support we offer. As someone who has worked with a number of non-profits, I have always been passionate about using my knowledge in digital marketing to help fill in the gaps for organizations when it comes to communications so that they can focus on what they set out to do – help others.
